Biography

Stephanie Gans is a licensed clinical social worker associate, a licensed clinical addictions specialist as well as a certified tobacco treatment specialist.  She has experience in working in community mental health and Federally Qualified Health Centers.  In her last job, she helped integrate and institutionalize tobacco treatment in Lincoln Community Health Center.  Stephanie has experience in working with a number of marginalized populations such as those living with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders. 

Presently Stephanie is a Tobacco Treatment Specialist for the NC Division of Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch for three years. As a tobacco treatment specialist she provides expert statewide training and technical assistance in order to promote evidence-based tobacco use cessation interventions in medical and behavioral health care systems and among clinical and behavioral health care providers. She educates providers and health systems managers about the NC tobacco use quitline, QuitlineNC and develops and delivers training on evidence-based tobacco use treatment methods for partner organizations that can help build support and capacity for systems-based approaches to evidence-based tobacco use cessation in NC health care systems and primary care practices.
