Catawba Sunrise Gallery is a gallery of fine American craft located in the heart of Black Mountain. Named for nearby Catawba Falls, it was established in 1996 by Rita Vermillion. Catawba Sunrise represents over 150 artisans and craftsmen, both regional and national. Works of recently established artists are often found here; frequently an artist will be exclusive to this gallery in NC.

Originally serving as a craft shop and headquarters for the Guild, this building, now known as Guild Crafts, continues as a craft shop offering the finest crafts from a nine-state region… pottery, handcarved wood, jewelry, baskets, handwoven table linens, folk crafts, ironwork, toys, glass, and quilts: enduring skills passed from hand to hand for generations.

Works by Tekla and Dan are in corporate and private collections. Resumes and biographies are available upon request. Iron is heated in a forge, then hammered and shaped into works of sculpture or utilitarian objects. Each piece is individually made and not mass produced. Both artists strive for the highest quality craftsmanship and design uniqueness.

The Old Depot Gallery is wholly owned by The Association. Its goal is to promote and protect mountain crafts and crafters by giving a place to sell their works and enhance the quality of their product. All crafters must be Association members and reside within Western North Carolina to display their works in the Gallery. The Gallery sells only original and juried crafts of local Western North Carolina Artists. Crafts are sold on consignment and proceeds help support The Old Depot Association and its work.
