Know Before You Go

Hello to you!

Here is information for you as a Summer School participant. Check in/registration for all attendees will be from 9:00am-11:00am in Warwick Center on Monday, with the welcome and opening session starting at 11:00am next door in the Burney Center.

Parking is free, but this year, UNCW is requiring that everyone have a parking pass on their dashboard (see below). Print it out and put it on the dashboard of your car. You can park in the M lot or on the street spaces near Burney Center (map attached). At the end of the day, you will move your car to the resident hall lots (if you are staying on-campus) for the rest of the week. Commuters can park either in the parking deck or Lot FF.

Please check in as early as possible before 11am, as we have close to 250  participants and you need to have completed your check-in process before the 11:00am session begins. All our exhibitors will be in Warwick Center (we have 34 exhibitors this year!) for you to visit from 9-11am after you check in.  For those of you who will be staying in the residence halls, UNCW staff will check you into your dorm room immediately after you check in at the NCFADS registration tables. Please remember to bring your fully refundable $50 deposit (money order or check only), as UNCW requires this for your room key.

If you arrive after regular check in hours, come to Cornerstone Residence Hall where the front desk staff will check you into your room. 

If you are an on-campus resident, UNCW asks that you leave your car parked at your residence hall, as School commuters will be using the parking deck and Lot FF near the Wagoner Dining Hall.

Check out from residence halls will be Friday from 12:30-2:30pm in the Burney Center.

If you plan to check in Tuesday or Wednesday, please come to the Teaching Lab Building Room 1006, where the NCFADS registration desk will be located Tuesday-Thursday through the week. All classes Tuesday through Friday will be in the Teaching Lab Building or McNeill Building.

Remember it will be hot in Wilmington, so dress comfortably with coolness in mind, especially as you will be walking around the campus.

I’m also sending you the schedule for the week – remember, lunches are included in your registration, as well as the ice cream social.

• Bathrooms: Each student will share a bathroom with up to 6 other students of the same gender.
• Beds: Each participant will have a single room, which includes two twin beds (see photo). Bed linens will be provided.
• Towels: Each student will be provided 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth for the week. If you would like additional towels, feel free to bring your own. Please do not remove these items from your dorm. Students will be billed for missing items.
• Amenities: Rooms are air conditioned but they do not include a television or phone. Other amenities include FREE guest Wi-Fi access on campus, washer/dryers (bring your own detergent) and vending and ice machines.
• Key Deposit: Please bring $50 in the form of money order or check ONLY (no credit cards/cash accepted) to the registration desk when you check-in for the SummerSchool.This is required by UNCW in order to pick up a key for your room and is mandatory. It will be refunded when you turn in your key on Friday.
